Those baskets are about as Christian as the Yuletide trees, anyway…
I hadn’t even known about gifts for Easter before this thread. I’d heard of “egg hunts” and was familiar with “Easter eggs” as a term for hidden content in videogames, but it’s the first time I hear of getting/giving presents directly to someone for Easter.
Our family didn’t do the easter thing very much. I distantly remember tiny wicker baskets with pink and purple “straw” and a couple milk chocolate eggs, but it dates back to when I got a dime under my pillow from the tooth fairy if I lost a baby tooth. I’d say 4 years old.
Eh, the egg hunts for example and eggs as an Easter (actually, Spring) symbol are found in much of Europe, and the stuff in the eggs isn’t always candy. Now, thinking there has to be a high sugar content in almost anything, that might be an American thing :).
This 100%. Every time my husband even glances at stuff before the holidays I remind him of how annoyed he gets when he realizes how much he could have saved by waiting a couple days.
I must remember that we’re moving and judge the amounts to purchase accordingly. Now does that mean more due to stress or less so I don’t have to put it in a box. Decisions decisions!
