The first thing I noticed was my restless legs stopped within a week or two. Man, that ridiculous condition had bugged me for years! I’m pretty sure poor circulation from smoking was the trigger to it, but that relief alone with worth kicking a 10-year, pack-and-a-half a day habit. And I never gained weight (actually lost some) because I’d take a brisk walk around the neighborhood when I’d get stabby…so about 20 times a day or so for awhile.
I tried to quit so many times it was ridiculous, longest was about 9 months. What finally did it for me was not thinking about quitting, just quitting. Most other times I made a production to myself about it, but the last time was just a casual walking away from it. Smoked the last in the pack, put the lighter inside the box, and dropped them in the trash. Then I did everythign in my power to do anything else but smoke.
the effects will come and stay, but everybody is different in how their body reacts. I noticed the smell thing after about a week and a half, when my sinuses really started clearing. This is the first year in I don’t know how long I have not had a cold that developed into bronchitis. My wife enjoys being close to me. I can walk up more than 2 flights of stairs without being winded.
Antinor, I hope you can quit, it’s a terrible habit in so many ways. It is also a massive bitch to try and quit, so I can empathize. Keep at it, and you will beat it!
