However, what confuses me, I guess, is that my continued response, and the response of many many others, to the historical events in question is irrational, but your sense of offense and outrage because Precious can’t visit the Duke basketball website without seeing an ad IS completely rational. There’s a disconnect somehow. So ya know, man up. Get over it.

My concern is not for my own personal convenience or peace of mind (though the 9/11 overkill is annoying). My concern is what this obsession says about our country, and whether it is an unhealthy obsession for us to indulge. Lingering national obsessions with past grievances have not, historically, led to good things.

Your postings in this thread haven’t indicated some hand wringing of the world’s view and impressions of US citizens based on their over glurging of 9/11. Your postings read as if it has everything to do with your personal convenience, peace of mind and ability to fap to the high school stats of Duke’s newest point guard without the “intrustion” of some 9/11 memorial.

Tune up your neurons and try to follow the progression:

1. I submit the OP stating my concern that wallowing in 9/11 is not good for us as a nation.

2. Several posters respond with “Just ignore it!”

3. Following the digression, I point out the impossibility of ignoring it, using the seemingly non-9/11 Duke basketball website as an example.

4. You have an emotional meltdown because of something you saw on TV ten years ago.

What other countries think of us never entered into the discussion. So, I guess…
