When I drink I lock up my gun and magazines

I do that when I drink. I don’t drink really but once in a blue moon I’m in a mood to drink.

Like tonight and I locked up my Glock 10mm and two 15 round magazines. I’m not sure why because I think I have a head on my shoulder but I do this.

I don’t trust myself? I never done anything stupid before. I’m on my 5th bottle of Smirnoff Ice Screwdriver. I got one bottle left. I plan to finish it before I call it the night.

Yes, I’m a licensed carry and I carry all the time. I’m staying home getting buzzed. I’m not out in the streets. It’s a pretty crappy weather anyway.

I think I’m rambling but thanks for hearing me out. I’m ready for bed. Good night y’all.

Thats probably a good idea. However what is to stop you from just unlocking your guns?

I don’t know what state you’re in, but in Wisconsin it it’s illegal to have a gun on you or within reach if you’re intoxicated. 941.20(1)(b)

The CCL FAQs also mention that no one, can carry a weapon into a bar (we have open carry without a license) but go on to specifically mention that you can carry a concealed weapon in a bar, if you have a CCL, but it’s a $10,000 and/or 9 months in jail if you drink while carrying it.

So, from a legal stand point, not a bad idea, things can go wrong, someone could stop over, a cop could knock on the door for some random reason. Maybe you forget it’s on you and walk outside and and get noticed. Who knows.

OTOH, if, mentally, you feel like it needs to be locked up, even better that you did.

Nothing really but gives me time to think, is it worth it?

By the way. my drawer has two locks.

Has anyone ever invented a gun lock that can only be opened by blowing into a breathalyzer?

When I drink I take out my magazines, but I don’t have a gun.

I am not sure if I am comforted or worried by the OPs statement.

Ok?

My guns are always locked up unless I’m taking them to the range.

Why, Joe’s a great neighbor - he always has his guns locked up when he’s drunk.

Lmao, this is such an “I’m drunk” OP.

(Former drinker here.)

**SigMan ** should consider locking up something more interesting.

I always wanted to lock up a FN 5.7.

How do you plan to protect yourself when pinko commie hippie minority hepped up on goofballs home invades you when you drink?

Breeeeatthhhe on them.

I’m horrified. Smirnoff Ice? What is this, a sorority hazing?

LOL, it is Mundane Pointless Stuff after all.

Some points are well made and even though I locked up my Glock 10mm I have a 12 gauge pump by my bed loaded with triple oughts.

That’s for the invaders.

I don’t think the guns are the biggest problem

Oh, okay, nevermind.

I can’t talk you out of suicide, I don’t know what your life is like. But I think most people who shoot themselves are drunk, so yeah its a good idea to keep your guns under multiple locks because the alcohol makes it easier.

SigMan owns a Glock!? Figures…

That statute does not say that one can’t have a gun within reach if intoxicated. “Within reach” is language used in another statute regarding defining what entails the concealing of a weapon.

I have lots of guns and ammo in the house. Nothing is locked up. When I drink, nothing changes… I simply don’t touch them. Works well for me.
