Bingo. I’m thinking it’s about time for a road trip…
Windows did its automatic update reboot while I was reading this post causing me to lose my Word document I had been working on all day so I’m only giving this post One Star.
I saw one today that made me think of this thread. It was for a jacket on the website of a women’s clothing store. This jacket mostly had great reviews, but one reviewer had given it a lower rating. This wasn’t because she didn’t like the jacket, but because the scarf the model was wearing with it in the photo was out of stock and she really wanted one.
Clue, don’t order things that you don’t know what they are (hint, pork belly is pretty much just fat), don’t expect the bartender to be a great waiter.
It’s been decades since the then-current version of Word doesn’t regularly and automatically save your work. Or have I been whooshed?
You’ve been whooshed. It’s a parody of stupid reviews. His review blames a computer problem on a post that couldn’t possibly have caused it. It’s a joke.
A while ago, I was reading online reviews for a recipe for New York style black-and-white cookies. Several reviewers complained because the cookie was soft and cake-like, and the icing was hard and brittle.
Well, yes. That’s what a black-and-white cookie is supposed to be. On the one hand, I thought it was stupid to criticize a recipe for being authentic, But on the other hand, I can’t say it’s a bad idea to warn people who have never had a black-and-white cookie that the result might not be what they expect.
I recently had the fun of trying to find a trustworthy USB-C cable with about a dozen variations, including “knockoffs with the wrong resistor that can fry your tablet” and “properly made ones that actually work right” commingled.
For book reviews, I tend to look at the 3-star ratings. I figure the 1-stars are from people who probably have irrational dislikes, and the 5-stars might be shills for the author. I figure if you actually take the time to write a review to support 3 stars, it’s more likely to be a reasonable and honest review, rather than just slagging or shilling.
