I’m trying to make some travel plans for the summer of 2008 and I typically like to include some baseball games in my schedule. Looking at the team page for the Cubs, the schedule is listed as tentative. Can any Dopers tell me when MLB typically finalized the schedule? Exact dates are not required, but just a general idea of when to expect a final schedule would be great. Thanks in advance for any help.
P.S. Contrary to everyone else on these boards, I will hold you responsible for an incorrect answer and will sue you for every penny you have if you are wrong. You ARE my lawyer, doctor, air traffic controller, etc. As a result, answer with care and precision.
WhatExit is right… January, and the teams won’t start selling tickets until then. However, game dates are unlikely to change unless there is a venue conflict or some other objection. Game times are more likely to change, but if you want to plan a trip to Chicago when the Cubs will be in town, the tentative schedule will suffice.
My experience is that there is very little change between the preliminary schedule annouced in late fall and the final schedule announced in January. At least one team (the Oakland A’s) is now taking season ticket orders for plans in which the buyer specifies game dates. They wouldn’t be able to do that if there were much chance of big changes being made to the schedule.
