When is it OK to hate Republicans?

Hell, Hentor --I don’t even say it anymore! I just shake my head and mutter “GOP” under my breath. My outrage-o-meter is approaching it’s 100,000 mile engine teardown and rebuilding. It’s (the current admin positions on most things)a daily assault on my values–one becomes innured, unfortunately.

And for those who may say: “but I’m a Rep and didn’t vote for him etc” or “I’m a moderater Rep; we’re not all neo-cons!” I say, good, but wake up, please–your party has been overridden by neo-cons. And please, if you don’t like what they are doing, then don’t support the party–vote your conscience on indiviudal issues/candidates. To vote for the party means you get neo-cons at present.

You really don’t know?

You’ve probably seen her on television-- the skinny, blonde harridan who makes asinine, broad brush accusations anyone to the left of Genghis Khan?

She wrote a book called Treason in which she asserted that all liberals were literally guilty of treason. She celebrates Joseph McCarthy as an unfairly maligned American hero. She wrote in her online column that we should go into Islam countries, kill their leaders and force them to become Christians. The list go on. She 's either a complete nutcase or a complete troll. I suspect she’s a little of each.

Holy crap, did Dio just say that? Fucking amen, man. Fucking amen.

“” “” “”

sounds familiar

Some dude who used to post here used it, and I liked it.

I’m fairly sure he meant that reminded him of a slogan that started “Ein volk, ein Reich”, Squink.

I’m fairly sure he knows I know that Elvis.

Really? Then the question is why you choose to say it.

Yeah, but I think a lot of you who are weighing in with the standard “hate is bad for you” blah blah blah are missing an important point – that hate can be useful, if you are in conflict and you have to have the energy, the courage, the anger, the will to do in your opponent. This may well be exactly where the Dems are weak wrt the Pubbies – the Pubbies do indeed hate the Dems, mostly from the experience of being out of power for about 30 years and seeing so many things they disapprove of happen. They’ve hated us for 30 fucking years, and they hate us a LOT, and as Zebra points out, their hate now manifests itself in the notion that in defeat, anything the Dems try to do to affirm their values or outlook is evil and should not be done.

I used to think this was just a partisan trick, a way of winning political battles. Now I think that while it is in fact very useful for winning political battles, it’s symptomatic of the underlying hatred that Pubbies and conservatives have for the rest of us. The Pubbies and conservatives who frequent this board are not whom I am referring to … head over to the Free Republic and other such sites if you want to get an earful of vitriol.

I think it wouldn’t hurt the Dems at all if they could work up a little good, honest hatred for the Republican Party, and use that hatred to steel themselves to do whatever it takes to get back in power and get the country back on the right course.

Well, Elvis, it’s one of the sins of the republican party.

It’s an attitude that fosters Solidarity over truth:

and I hate it.

Except that slightly more than 1/2 of the voters do NOT think that “getting the Dems back in power” and “getting the country back on the right course” are desirable or necessary.

Actually, I’m SimonX and I’m the “dude who used it.”

I think that if everyone would just join the Republican Party there would be all of this partisan obstructionism.
Hence:

One country.
One party.
GOP.

Was that the dude who said he was voting Red because even they wouldn’t be able to keep a lid on all the scandal brewing? There’d be some people of integrity in the party or exective who’d let out the Valerie Palme etc facts.

I don’t hate Dems or what they stand for. Even when I feel their platform is flawed or their candidates are boobs, there is no justification for hate.

??

Being a member of the Republican party is tacit acceptance of their policies. If you believe their policies are vile, shouldn’t it be ok to hate those who enable their policies to come to fruition? Anyone who sent money to George W. Bush helped enable his gay bashing, war mongering, civil rights destroying policies to continue.

I’m willing to make exceptions for those rare Republicans who voted against George Bush in the primaries and abstained from supporting GWB (whether it be voting for a third party in protest or even just not voting), but other than that I’m not willing to give them a pass.

dittoes

Yeah. What of it?

PatriotX, you posted

What does the “” “” “” mean?
