When it rains, it pours!

In 1982, I was driving home from a dental appointment, and on a side street I used, a mile or so from home, there was a brown geyser near a curb: Someone jumped the curb and sheared off a fire hydrant.
When I got home I found my younger brother had just brought a VCR into the home, for the very first time.
Less than two hours later I was at a supermarket, waiting in line at the checkstand–when a woman in the line suddenly had an epileptic seizure. (Thankfully, the paramedics came quickly and she recovered. )
Post here a combination of incidents that you saw or found out about, that happened close together–the greater number, or the more dramatic or bizarre the incidents, or the closer together in time, the better.

OK, this stuff took place over the course of a couple of months, but what a few months. First, my grandmother dies right before Thanksgiving. In the following weeks my car broke down, we got it fixed, the next day, my wifes car breaks down. We can’t bring her car into get fixed because the next day the furnace broke. It didn’t just break, it spewed oil all over the basement for about 4 hours. While the furnace guy is burning the excess oil out of the furnace, some one called the fire dept. because of all the smoke coming from the chimney. We get the heat back, pay the oil company, and pay for my car, can’t do the wifes cause we blew our meager savings on the furnace, my car and the holidays. We decide to hold off on fixing my wifes car until after christmas, because I had to work Christmas & New Years eves and days, so I’ll have some pretty big holiday pay coming to me. Well, 2 days before we bring the car to the shop, it gets hit while parked in front of the house. Not

Not what?
Now this is a two week time span here.
Son hit by a car, I have a heart attack, I lose my job (the best I have had as far as money and benifits go), my brother-in-law blows his brains out and my husband has to go to RI two days after my son gets out of the hospital still in a body cast and having to be carried up and down the narrow steep stairs to be put in a wheel chair that doesn’t fit anywhere in the house except for the kitchen, I cannot get a lawyer to sue the woman who hit my son because she has no insurance and is on wellfare, one of my friends hits a bus in the fog and is killed instantly on her oldest sons birthday, I packed up the kids and moved out for a weekend, my van was hit, I was called fat jobless and lazy,(look at me, do I look fat jobless and lazy?) my uncle dies, my cat gets put to sleep, and then Wally died.

Well, it’s a new year and hopefully that is all out of my system. I can only hope that with all that I have paid off some Karma!

Geez, guys…especially you, Kricket…hope the Karma thing swings the other way for you.

Mine: 1986
Actually starts in 1985 when my dad got laid off from his job.
Feb–parents inform me and my brother they are splitting up as soon as there’s enough money for dad a place to stay
May–graduate college, dad moves out and my favorite cousin has his “shotgun wedding” so to speak–all in the same weekend. Went job hunting, found a job, started work (3rd shift)
July or somewhere around there–mom starts dating, we get to watch dad cry when he realizes this means they’ll never get back together. Dad pulls himself together and starts dating his high-school sweetheart.
Sept–dad gets married and I move out into the mobile home he bought, since he’s moved in with step-mom
Oct–Mom gets married

Small potatoes for most people, I guess, but a very emotionally stressful year for me.

Heres to a better New Year for you Kricket! I think after all that you should have karma credit built up.

This has been more than 10 years ago but I still get a laugh out of it. I was a senior in high school and it was the day of first semester exams and we get to go off campus for lunch. My best friend, myself, and another friend pile into best friend’s car to go to lunch. On our way back to school after lunch when WHAM we get hit by another car on the drivers side. We are all shaken up and get a ride back to the school, after her car is towed off, to pick up my car and go home for the day. I’m right in front of my house fixing to make a left hand turn into the drive when again WHAM I get rear ended by a motorcycle! We see two people fly over the car into the road. My best freind was in the back seat and she completely lost it. I was looking in my review mirror and saw that they were going to hit my car so I screamed and she had time to look back and see it. She completely lost it! Needless to say neither of us wanted to drive for a while.

Thanks guys. About the only thing I am left dealing with is the woman who hit my son.
I know in a while I will shake my head about all that and wonder how I made it with a touch of my sanity left.
My friend kept telling me that you are never given more than you can handle in life. And I kept telling her that someone really over estimated me this time.
Maybe some day I will learn not to say “what could possibly happen next?”
