When Oral Surgeons Go Bad...

I posted an MPSIMS thread yesterday here about my experience on Friday having a tongue biopsy. I was too drugged at the time to bitch about the insurance card fiasco but the more I think about it today, I’m getting more pissed off.

When I arrived at his office, I took my dental insurance card but not my health insurance card. I agreed to fax it in asap and paid a deposit of $220. His office staff called me no less than 5 times on Friday afternoon asking me to fax my damn insurance card. Not once did they even ask me how I was doing, even after I told them that most of the stitches had accidentally come out.

Then, “Judy” called late Friday afternoon and her message was the last straw. “Judy” told me that they needed my insurance card “to send in the biopsy specimen in a timely manner”. WTF? They’re HOLDING my tissue specimen waiting for a damn insurance card? They’re holding my specimen from Friday until fucking MONDAY?

Can they DO that?

Its not the practitioner, its their office staff. I have seen this kind of poor behavior in the past myself. They are tasked with maintaining cashflow & they fail to recognize that a short term win results in a long term loss. As I do, you will likely share this experience with many people - people in a position to either use or not use that practitioner in the future. Many will choose not to. Its a really bad move on their part.

I’ve sent a letter today with a cc: to my dentist. I hope she will think twice about referring to that group again.
