So, last month I had a new baby (my fourth) and due to the horribly high costs of health insurance deductibles and other random catastrophes, my husband and I have been unable to afford to buy a new vehicle. (Cry me a river, I know - but in this case, it IS kind of a pain, because I can’t fit all my kids into either of our current vehicles.) Anyway, my oldest, age 4, is supposed to start school next week, and due to the transportation issues, as well as having had a C-section to recover from and a newborn and three small children to take care of, I didn’t get around to registering him for school until yesterday.
The local elementary school informed me that all their classes were full, and my son would be transferred to the next closest elementary school. I sighed, and headed over there to enroll him. Here’s where procrastination pays off:
Because my son doesn’t live in the immediate area, the school is required to come pick him up every day - and not at a bus stop, either - door-to-door service. This makes my life (until I can spring for that minivan) so much easier, it’s not even funny.
I feel like I won the procrastination lottery.
Anyone else have examples of the Procrastination Payoff? Situations where if you’d only taken care of business like you were supposed to, you’d have totally missed out on something?
