Yep. It was disappointing upthread to hear of a bridge, named for a guy whose surname was “Outerbridge” that they went with “Outerbridge crossing”. Just go with Outerbridge! (Which I would guess most locals will likely shorten it to anyway)
The name romanized as Park is not the same sound as the English word Park, at least in rhotic dialects. It’s closer to “pahk” but quite how the stereotypical New England accent would say park.
In any case the Korean word for “park” isn’t pronounced the same as the surname Park.
I think it would be Park Chung Hee Gong-won but in reality the memorial park to Park is called Mullae Gong-won, in part because Park’s legacy is mixed to say the least. Mullae is just the neighborhood it is in.
Gong is a surname in China. Are there any Gongs in Korea?
