When Things Are Done Right

May I add to this, curbside trash pick up?

I know there are a few on here who live far enough out in the county that they have to make dump runs, and holidays trip me up when they fall on or disrupt my scheduled day for trash pick up.

How about a bicycle? When you’re going up a hill or into the wind, just go into a lower gear and the pedaling gets easier again. When you want to stop, just pull the brake handles. In almost every circumstance, it gets you to where you’re going much faster than walking or running would.

(You could say the same things about a car, but I’m just thinking of purely mechanical devices)

Bicycles and plumbing are great ones! I haven’t had the need for an EZ Pass as we don’t have toll roads in Alberta (yet) but I have relatives in Ontario that think they’re the Bee’s Knees. Great suggestions so far, keep them coming!
More from me: the humble computer mouse. It’s intuitive, comfortable and ever since they got rid of the rollers, pretty much bullet proof.
Modern multi lane highways. Effortless cruising for hours at a time to traverse distances that our ancestors might never have gone in a lifetime. Most of the time they work really well.

I was just thinking about something like this this morning. Dremel tools. I have one that I bought at the Sears Surplus Store over 40 years ago that still works like new. The Sears store - not so much. In fact I like it so much I bought another one, a hurking big model the size of a trim router, that I’d never seen before, at a garage sale a couple of years ago. Nobody gives them a second thought but they just keep on keepin’ on.

SNL always tricks me with fake ads and stuff I don’t recognize as ‘the show’. :stuck_out_tongue:

And even faster than the bus! On my morning commute there’s a spot where I’m pedaling past a three-block long line of cars stopped on a main artery, breezing by on the adjacent bike path. And getting across town five minutes faster than the bus does.

When I see depressed workerbees waiting at a bus stop, and they’re disgruntledly searching for their bus, I want to yell “Dudes, get a bike! It’s just as fast… with no waiting for a bus!”

+1 to this. When I was commuting from the South side of Winnipeg to downtown It’d be 15-20 minutes (depending on lights), 30-45 in a car depending on traffic, and at least an hour by bus. Mind you, that was in the summer and the winters in Winnipeg are pretty brutal for winter riding. PLus, there was no way I was going to ride with all the windrows and ice on busy streets (no bike lanes at that time).

whoa that would be great! every thing i’ve watched via OnDemand completely disables FF so you’re forced to watch commercials
