When was the last time you went to a drive-in theater?

1989 when my son was conceived. For obvious reasons I don’t remember the movie. I THINK it might have been “Colors”.

The last time I went to the drive in was just two years ago. I was doing a feature story on the seasonal opening of the local drive in in Sterling, Colorado. We were under a tornado watch but they started the film anyway, it was Hitch. I got to see the first half, before the projector broke and everyone was refunded their money and had to leave.

Before that the last film I saw, but did not hear, was Southern Fried Movie (I think it was 1975. Our apartment used to face the screen of a drive in and we would go out on our balcony and watch the films and make up dialogue for them.

The last drive in I watched and heard was Ride the High Country and it sort of worked because I was in Rock Springs, Wyoming. That was sometime in the late 60s if I remember correctly.

When I was 10, and saw Dead Calm <sigh> I need to go again.

This past Tuesday. I saw Ratatouille and Ocean’s 13 at the Montana Drive-In located in Estill Springs TN. One of the best ways to see a movie, they have 3 screens… it’s 5 bucks a head (4 for kids) to see two movies and their concessions are reasonable and good.

I saw Risky Business at the drive-in theater in the summer of 1984, I believe.
