I seem to remember, a long time ago, there was a pay dispute, and a threat was made to replace Dan with Kyle McLachlan of all people.
I have heard claims that Springfield, OR is the real life Springfield that most closely resembles the one from The Simpsons. It’s more industrial and working class than it’s wealthier neighbor Eugene, and apparently Eugene residents consider it to be sort of the wrong side of the tracks, much like the dynamic between Shelbyville and Springfield on the show.
Planet of the Apes, The Musical?
I haven’t watched The Simpsons regularly since 1999 or 2000. Last time I watched an episode, I was confused because some of the voices were clearly different. They’ve already replaced some voices, so I imagine the big test will come when the voices of the Simpsons themselves are the ones who retire or pass away. If they can get away with replacing Julie Kavner then it’s a safe bet they can replace anyone and the show could go on until the heat death of the universe.

Maybe they’ve just aged. Dr. Hibbert was definitely not the original voice actor.
Correct. It was the same guy from the beginning until 2021. Around that time, all characters of color were recast if the actors weren’t of the same heritage.
The only significant voice change is anyone played by Phil Hartman.
Well, does Apu still talk like a stereotype?
I think they’ve pretty much dropped Apu as a character.
Well, that’s kind of a bummer. Say what you will about his accent, I won’t argue (though some people do talk like that) but he was a much more complex character than he started. And one of the smartest folk in town.

An Indian-American comedian named Hari Kondabolu wrote a documentary called The Problem with Apu about how the character caused problems for Indian-Americans (particularly schoolchildren).
Nancy Cartwright just discussed season 40 as a stopping point.
And in the case of most voice actors who have died they have killed off or retired the characters ( like Maude Flanders and Mrs. Krabappel.)
