When will ties go out of style?

The trouble is that the jacket and tie go together as an ensemble. To my mind that’s the only time they project that Take Me Seriously image. If you wear the tie and have to take your jacket off, because of the heat, you look like a store clerk.

I suspect the endurance of the tie comes from the fact that generations of up-and-comers have emulated their older superiors. As for bringing back dress codes and forcing employees to comply, it’s often said this action is taken to bring about a more professional attitude, but I believe it’s just as much the result of a desire to exert dominance and the executives’ personal sense of power. I’m glad I’ve seldom encountered this sort of thing in my work, not least because I have a terrible time finding slacks that don’t FIT LIKE F**** CLOWN PANTS!

The tie will go out of style exactly ten minutes after the following things happen:

  1. men can get a job where they are well paid and don’t have to wear one.

  2. men can still convince women to have sex with them without wearing one.

actually the sex thing is prioritized higher than the work thing.
I know I wouldn’t own a suit were it not for my wife and job interviews.
personally, I look foreward to the days of star trek style “quasi-futuristic clothing” except more baggy, I mean what happens when you get excited about Deanna Troi in one of those tight body suits?

I’m sure they would make it so if she has to wear tight clothing, so do you

Neckties will remain an integral part of the businessman’s attire until some other phallic symbol comes along and replaces it.
