My husband called me at work to ask why there were “guys on the roof.”
I had no idea.
He called back to say that the roofers had come to the wrong house, but that they had already torn up about 100 slates and had taken the flashing off the chimney.
Suddenly, we don’t need to spend a few thousand dollars having any roof work done. We were putting it off as long as possible, and lo, we got it for free.
Procrastination is a Good Thing.

I am SO jealous! Do you suppose if I wait long enough, the foundation fairy will come and fix the crack that runs through our house?
Oh well - Still this IS good new! Congrats!
Wow, what a twist of fate. I don’t suppose they could “accidentally” swing by my place this afternoon? 
What’s even funnier is that they put a sign in the front yard that they were doing work there. This company is really high-profile for their expense and good work. I’m getting free advertising that I have a really good roof!

I always wonder how often that happens. At least I know it has happened ONCE. 
A few years back we needed a new roof. I swapped a computer system with a roofer. Because I built the system myself, and I got all parts at cost, I think my roof only cost me around $500
