“You” means you, not Billboard, Rolling Stone or anyone else-I want your personal opinion.
“Three” means exactly that. I don’t care if you can’t cut it down from 10 or 20, only the first three on your list count, in the order that you name them. Same thing if you try to divide them into categories, like Jazz, then Pop, then Rock etc.-the first three count, the rest don’t.
“Band” means exactly that. Don’t try to slip in your favorite musician as a “band” because she/he has backup. Established duets count if they are known and established as a group. Seals and Crofts counts, for example.
My three, in order?
The Eagles
Steve Miller Band
Fleetwood Mac
I tried to conjure up the names that I most associate with the ‘70s, not thinking best. Bands who scream that decade to me.
Styx.
Yes.
ELP.
I expect to see Jethro Tull, Moody Blues, Blood Sweat and Tears, and Chicago in someone’s lists. My memories of that decade as distinctly different than before and after were the popularity of Progressive Rock, and of brass supported rock. May have been my crowd.
