When's the last time you saw a two dollar bill?

There are two in front of me right now. I don’t know why I keep them; I just like to.

I’ve had the same one in my wallet since 1995. Don’t ask me why. I should probably get a new wallet too I guess.

Actually I think that I’ll need it to get me out of a dire situation sometime. Once I almost had to use it to buy a cheeseburger at McDonalds, but a friend loaned me a few bucks. Phew! That was a close one.

June, when we went to see my Dad. He carts around oodles of them in his wallet, and Kennedy half dollars in his pocket, and uses them to pay his bills, tip the waiter, etc. Gets a kick out of the double-takes.

I too see them all the time as a cashier. I have standing orders from Management to foist them off on unsuspecting customers ASAP, as they’re a damn nuisance.

Ditto for Sackies, Susan B’s, and Georgies. No matter how collectible they may be, Management considers them all a royal PITA.

The Australian $2 note was replaced by a coin in 1988, so it’s almost twenty years since I’ve seen one.

Hey, we got one of those twos too! It was for the California Health Interview Survey (http://www.chis.ucla.edu/ ). The survey was way long, took about a half-hour. Sigh…not even paid California minimum wage…

My local recycler here in Carson pays them for recycled bottles, cans, cardboard, etc. They also pay in Sacajawea dollar coins. I do get funny looks when I spend them, though.

I’ve got a couple of them, including one in my “interesting items” display hutch.

Back when I worked for Loomis (Armored, worked there until last Thanksgiving), I would occasionally see them in deliveries. Seems some banks and businesses are still ordering them on a fairly regular basis.

The best was $2,000 in 2’s. A full 10-pack of 100 bill bundles.

I’ve always told myself that I’ll order a 10-pack or more to put in my safe if I ever win the lottery. Along with a 10-pack or two of 20’s.

My daughter has one on her bulletin board. There is also one in each of my kids baby books that their great grandmother gave me for them when they were born.

As for circulation I have not gotten one in many many years. If I did get one I would probably tuck it away.

My uncle once gave me a two consecutively-numbered two dollar bills for my birthday a long time ago. I wonder why I put them? Hm.

I keep a Canadian $2 folded in my wallet in one of the business card sections. It’s been there for years. I used to have a dollar bill, too, but I don’t know where it went.

Whenever I watch Chinatown.

My local liquor store hands them out as change … kind of a subtle marketing thing.

Just now. I keep one in my wallet also. I got it this summer at the county fair. The admission was $8, and they had a stack as change for people who gave them $10 bills.

I have no problems giving away deuces - kids especially love to get them, as well as half-dollars. But yeah, people just don’t want dollar coins. I always try to give one away when I can, but people just don’t want them. So I sell them back to the bank in batches of 10. If they were big like halves, there would be no problem…

Joe

I was standing in line at the gas station last night, a 24oz Colt 45 in one hand and a 24oz Budweiser in the other (about to go to a friend’s house who enjoys Colt and play spades) and the line was realllly long. Some punk kid buying a gallon of milk tried to cut the line in front of the man before me by chatting him up about baseball, but he got told. He dropped the money in his hand onto the floor, he had two $2 bills. But before that it’s been 10 years since I’ve seen one.

I collect them when I come into contact with them. I have $84 worth and some have red ink where others have green ink. The first time I got a red one I zipped over to the coin collector store hoping to trade it for 1 million but alas they are only worth about .00000000000000005 more than the regular ones. :frowning:

Last weekend, in a donations jar at the state Archives building. Before that- I got one in change at a beach-tourist place in Gulf Shores, AL, about a year ago.

I don’t get why people don’t like having the deuces. They have the coolest print of all modern bills today in the U.S. Plus you can laugh at the 16 year olds that have never seen them before and want to refuse them.

I especially like the older red seal ones.

It’s been at least 10 years since I saw a $2 bill, in Canada. I’ve never seen an American $2. I think my father-in-law has Canadian one and two dollar bills on display in what used to be my wife’s room. He would have got them from my Canadian friend, who has come down here to visit him a couple of times.
