I never noticed that the lyrics of I’ve Been Everywhere, seems to include a reference to “Padilla” according to several transcriptions of the song. I suspect that it is a misheard lyric that split a place name into two words “and padilla” to rhyme with “I’m a killer” FWIW Padilla is a spanish name and correctly pronounced pah-dee-yah but the pah-dill-ah mispronounciation is pretty common.
Well, there’s Padilla Bay. And there’s a debate about how to pronounce it as well. Then there’s Nueva Villa de Padilla in Mexico. The Census Bureau’s U.S. Gazetteer doesn’t turn up anything except Padilla Barrio in Puerto Rico.
