There is a difference between celebrity and power. All of the actors in Hollywood combined aren’t even a hundredth of the power of Elon Musk.

I also saw another that said basically the GOP are lock-step with each other over only a few issues, whereas the left is a loose conglomeration of people who “don’t agree with that,” without any unifying issues–just “I don’t agree with the Right.”

I myself am ruthlessly progressive, but I’m loath to call myself a Dem–changed my status to Independent because I want RADICAL progression. I might even be a socialist.

There’s simply no galvanizing force, entity, group, person–we’re all just floundering.

Yeah, I agree. The Democrats don’t stand for anything but “not the Republicans”, and they’ve relied on that so long they don’t have any other real strategy. “Get celebrities to endorse us” is just absurdly pathetic as a backup plan.

I’ll also add that nobody respects the Democrats. Not their base, not their opponents and by all appearances not even themselves. Nobody regards them a competent, courageous, strong willed, filled with conviction or, well, anything. Nobody expects them to accomplish anything.

I second everything you’re saying–but to take it even further: When people like Bernie come along proposing more radical change, it resonates with the left–but the Powers that Be don’t want THAT much change, hang on now–so it gets tamped down in favor of someone a little more status quo.
