At an uninformed guess, I’d say that this sounds like some sort of rollback: The board might have some sort of short-term automatic backup system, or store information in multiple places (a short-term buffer or cache, and a longer-term, more stable storage), and that the short-term information might be shown in the thread, but that some sort of glitch causes the software to automatically revert to the long-term version. I can’t even guess what sort of glitch is causing the need for the rollback, or how serious it is, but this would at least explain how such a thing could occur.
