There was a version of the Forth computer language called “Asyst” that was sold in the late '80s. I learned it when I first had a PC-compatible desktop computer and have been in love with it since. But where have all the other users gone? Seems like they vanished without a trace. The Asyst company merged with another, and sort of disappeared inside; nobody there now was involved with it. As a dialect of Forth it should be known to the Forth community, but no mention of it on any of the Forth webring sites. This was a great language - text file support, real number math capabilities, two stacks, and a boatload of routines. Fast, too. Everybody seems taken with this graphical user interface more crap to break foolishness today. Where have all the Asyst programmers gone???
They all seem to have moved on to other languages. You can find several resumes for ex-Asyst users by googling for “asyst language”. Enjoy…
