I read Cockburn’s columns in The Nation…and I would never discourage anyone else from reading him. He offers very interesting opinions…And it is true that he is willing to tilt against standard views. (E.g., while some others here seem to believe that Sierra Club and Greenpeace are environmental radicals, he argues that they are essentially sell-outs to the mainstream.)
On the other hand, I get the vague impression that he can play a bit fast-and-loose with the truth…At the very least, he is very adept at spinning it in certain ways. I would read him, but with a high awareness that he has a certain point-of-view. [At any rate, if your viewpoint is that a “left wing skeptic” is going to criticize some environmentalists as being too radical…you ain’t gonna find that here!!!]
