I appreciate that your political identity is important to you but it means nothing to me, and I’m only discussing how to measure your overall position with specific regard to how it would be received by members of this board.

My political identity, such as it is, is not important to me. I just don’t like it so much when someone tries to significantly mischaracterize it. Anyway, this discussion is a hijack of the thread, so I’m going to drop it.

I’m not buying your argument. My default Western news source is BBC News; hardly a day goes by without a highly critical “news” article about North Korea. Most recently, I read an article entirely dedicated to unsupported rumor-mongering about alleged DPRK nuclear facilities. Given that the BBC seems to enjoy spreading anti-socialist propaganda, you really expect me to believe that it chooses to ignore the low-hanging fruit of near-border military exercises? Even when it takes ecstatic joy in reporting every single South Korean military exercise that takes place? My point is that a ‘troll’ may not have a political opinion, a troll might troll with provocative statements because he/she is a troll, not because they are liberal or conservative. Real trolls are only there to cause trouble, not to rile up R’s or D’s

politically-oriented, left or right, people who post in a way to rile up the opposition are not what I call trolls…perhaps I’d say ‘provocateurs’

Ah, I find myself more irritated by … no, let me try it this way. I find I’m less annoyed by those I agree with than those with whom I disagree.

I think it’s pretty rare that a post or series of posts in a thread is ever really going to change someone’s religious or political beliefs. Of course, growing up Jewish in the USA, I grew up knowing most people disagreed with me. So, I figure when appropriate, I’ll try to present my side of the argument or offer something to lessen the ignorance level. I don’t care that much if you agree or disagree with me, just that you understand my side.

Unless you’re one of those ignorant sluts that think Ovation guitars are as good as or better than Martins. A scorpion pit is too good for those people, but sometimes you have to work with what you have, right? What are you gonna do? ::shrug::

I moderated the politics forum for an, um, interesting dating niche website for several years.

There was one guy who was liberal and could be considered a troll. The problem was, he was also hilarious and frequently mixed in good comments with his trolling.

It was tough to mod him. I’m glad there weren’t more like him…
