Where are these stories?

Long time ago, I had a nice little black book filled with scary stories. I loved 'em. Unfortunately my new puppy, whom I also loved, was in a chewing stage and obliterated the book. Now, years later, I want those stories back, but can’t remember many of them.

The only one I DO remember was something about little evil green monkeys who lived in kudzu and would drag you in and eat you if they could. Another was one about a man who accidentally saw stones moving, and they got him for it. There was also one about a wife who cheated on her very crazy husband and ended up “decorating the Christmas tree.”

Does this ring any bells?

The stories sounded familiar (especially the Christmas one), but I couldn’t remember, so I asked over at Shocklines, and Tom Piccirrilli (who’s a pretty good writer) says this:

**They’re stories from DARK FORCES, edited by Kirby McCauley.

“Where the Summer Ends” by Karl Edward Wagner, “Where the Stones Grow” by Lisa Tuttle, and “The Night Before Christmas” by Robert Bloch.**

Dark Forces is one of the best horror anthologies, IMHO.

YES! Thank you! It had been driving me nuts!

I’d say “you’re welcome”, but my mouth is full.
