I want a magnetic bumper sticker that says “Turn off phone before driving” or something like that. Then I will attach it to my car door and see it when I get in. I would also buy some for other people. I see some adhesive bumper stickers that tell other people not to text and drive, and I could use something like that, but I am surprised I can’t immediately find the different sticker that I want. I have found some apps that are designed to stop texting while driving, and if these work for some people, that is fine. To me, it would seem a bit hopeless to write a note on the hypodermic needle you use to inject heroin saying “Don’t use this to inject heroin”. ATT has a campaign and a site with a store, but they only have shirts, not a magnetic sticker.
You can have a custom one made herefor $2.99. I’ve never seen one in stores, but that doesn’t mean that someone has made some to sell.
Worst case, any piece of paper or plastic becomes a magnetic sticker with the addition of a few small magnets. A custom-printed one, like the ubiquitous refrigerator-magnet spam except bigger, will look better.
These are fridge magnets but cafepress will make whatever you want also.

It doesn’t answer your question specifically, but in the spirit of the thing the best advice I’ve seen is to put your phone in the trunk before you set off.
You can get an app that prevents texting while you’re driving…

Do it yourself?
magnetic sheets (some are printable)
I don’t mean to threadshit - I’m just genuinely curious as to how this will help. Reminders can be useful to make you do things you might forget to do (“put on your seat belt”), but how can you need reminding to stop doing something that is so obvious as texting when you drive?
Sorry if that comes across wrong. I just don’t understand.
Thanks for the suggestions. I agree completely that it should be obvious not to text and drive. I have started some threads here to that effect. I recently got a better phone for texting and want to avoid addiction. I want to go further and remind myself to power down my phone before driving. I also want to make a similar reminder for my elderly parents.
That’s what I think. But also, the person you are speaking to, the insensitive, arrogant, ignoramus punching the buttons will, (a): be angry and possibly aggressively in-your-face about it, or (b): remain completely oblivious cuz, the idiot in question is looking at it’s damn phone and never saw your plea for civilization.
The power of suggestion is strong, which is why I have “Don’t Drink Me” decals plastered on the door of my liquor cabinet. :dubious:
Install a charger station in someplace (like the back seat passenger side) that is unreachable from the drivers seat.
But this is basically a matter of your own willpower.
If you can’t make yourself stop, then make it safer – get one of the phone apps that allows you send texts by voice. Still distracting when driving, but at least your hands are still on the wheel & eyes on the road.
You should really put the on the bottles. The door doesn’t taste as smooth going down.
