Where can I find apartment listings on the internet?

The house that belongs to my boyfriend and his mother got condemned a few months ago, mainly due to some major screw ups that the city did. Anyway, long story made short, they are currently living in a hotel, but insurance is stopping paying for this very soon, so they need to look for a new place to go. This is very difficult, especially as they have 2 dogs.

They need an apartment for something like $600/month that allows animals in Virginia Beach. Any idea where I might be able to find listings of this kind on the internet to aid them in their search? On the offchance, anyone happen to know of anything like this in the Virginia Beach area?

You can try apartments.com (no registration required) or rent.com (requires registration).
Also, the local newspaper might list classifieds online, or if there’s an alternative weekly, check that - sometimes they have different listings, for houses and the like that can be rented.

For pet info, click on the ‘community’ tab, there is a section on pet info. Of the 3 or so apartments around $600 all seem to allow pets as long as they are under 50 lbs or so.

I might want to clarify, they’re rather large dogs. Absolute sweethearts though, not that that would help much in the situation.

Have been using rent.com for my impending move to Houston. Good search and filtering capabilities. Have not received any spam due to the registration.

I’ve used rent.com for both my moves. They also claim to give you $100 if you list them as your referrer when you sign a lease, although I didn’t do this last time and haven’t signed the lease yet on the one I’m doing now.

I don’t know how good they are yet, as I’m in the process of moving myself, but I have used www.rentnet.com and liked the listings at least.

Good luck to all of you.

You might give www.craigslist.org a shot.

(Or http://norfolk.craigslist.org/ to narrow it down a bit.)

You can post a free listing and browse (also for free) what’s there.

(Craigslist doesn’t seem to have really made huge inroads into Virginia yet, but it’s coming along.)
