Where can I find city by city new home sale price averages?

So, I need to find the average price of new home sales august year to date 2006 and 2005 for several cities in the midwest.

I tried the census bureau website, but all they have are building permit valuations which aren’t the same as sale prices.

I also tried the National Association of Home Builder’s site, but to get their detailed reports requires an $1100 subscription fee, and even then I’m not sure they are broken down by city.

The only option I can think of is to google “[Insert Midwest City Here] new home sales average price” for 5 or so cities (no 5 in particular) and hope I can find an article that covers such information.

So, I my question is, anyone know of a good way to find this data? I’m ok paying for it even, though $1100 is a bit over my budget

(I’m pretty sure this a GQ, but I’m pretty dumb. Move as needed, etc.)

You can try Housing Tracker. It tracks sales prices (and inventory) for several different percentiles for a number of cities. I think the data only goes back about one year tho’.

Try Zillow.com. You can get averages by zip code, city, street, or individual addresses.

Try zillow.
