Where can I find specific GIF's?

As I’m sure most of you are, I’m on group chats on WhatsApp in which the other members seem to find appropriate GIF’s to respond to whatever the subject du jour is. Is there a secret app or website that I’m not aware of? I have an iPhone, in case that’s relevant.

Every app that I use for that has a handy “GIF search” feature built in. That’s what I use.

I don’t use WhatsApp so I can’t confirm whether or not this info is current (it’s from 2016), but this might be helpful: How to send GIFs in WhatsApp

Thanks. I found that feature on whatsapp. I assume that the options are limited due to licensing and other reasons.

Sorry I can’t help as I don’t even know what that is.

I have yet to be unable to find a perfect GIF via search feature that captures exactly what I want to say. Sure, if you want specifically “Tom Cruise saying BOOM!” or something, then it might be hard, but most things are covered.

Your iPhone has plenty of GIFs in it’s own text messaging app; it’s the red bubble with the white tennis racket thingy in it (bottom row; 3rd from the left; next to the iTunes icon in the image at this link). Not sure if they’re accessible in your WhatsApp tho.

There’s always Giphy, tho.

nm, I shouldn’t walk away from a post then not check what else has been posted…

Imgur is a website with more or less half gifs and half memes (‘meme’ just being a catchall term for still picture with some text).
I have no idea how compatible it is with yourapp. IME, depending on the app and the place where you find the gif, you’ll either be able to just grab the link or in some cases you’ll have to download it and reupload it to the place where you want it.

ETA, if you’re looking for something specific, their built in search is worthless. Just use google and search for Imgur gif [whatever you’re looking for] and go over to the image search.

Thanks everyone! This is all very helpful.

I’m way behind the curve on memes and gifs. So I just type what I want to say. Daughter said I’m less annoying than the rest of the family because if I want to say “Hey, proud of you!” I don’t wuss out by just texting an animated Bart doing a thumbs up, I actually SAY it.

Ha, she thought I was tech-savvy but chose to communicate the classic way… ha… anyhow, my recommendation is that your audience has already seen (and might be sick of) any gif you’d send; so Just Say What You Mean.

Come on. Saying “mic drop!” is not nearly as cool as an animated GIF of Obama dropping the mic!

Exactly… the point is to entertain while communicating! I understand digs’s point with respect to smilies or emojis used for direct personal messages, particularly for important or emotional events. But that”s not the context for which I asked the question.

Use Google Image Search. Just enter “What You Are Looking For GIFs”

It’s the Dope, you will always get that.

You could be writing that you are saving a baby’s life and someone will write in to question if you are really helping them.
