Where can I go to lear about the stock market and investing?

Yep, that’s all I’m asking. I’m 22, and am trying to figure out how to learn about this, but I’m rather clueless. Can any of you guys give me some suggestions to get started, and some sources to go to learn about it? Just let me know, and remember…

…when it comes to this topic right now for me, then paint me stupid, as I know almost nothing about it!

Well, most of us don’t at 22 so don’t paint yourself just yet.

I learned about it from being curious and calling a broker around age 25. I had a 401k for the first time and wanted some advice on the funds available. Jeff took care of me freebie and spent a great deal of time educating me.

Note, however, that this wasn’t out of the goodness of his heart. More than 10 years down the road he’s still my broker and controls a not insignificant amount of cash for me. It’s been a long strange relationship.

But a profitable one, all in all. So call around. Either that or I’m sure there’s a community college class that covers it.

Thank you for replying, it is appriciated. How much does a stock broker cost, or charge someone?

Well, I’m with Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. And with Jeff there’s no cost for consultation. He believes that if he can start handling your money he’ll earn his cash later on when you’ve got some real dough saved through him.

Really, I’m certain one will talk to you for absolutely nothing.

Glad to help.

My advice: fool.com

the Motley Fool is the first stop on your journey. The next stop, …
The Twilight Zone

No, wait, that’s something completely different and far less sensible…(but still a lot of fun!)
