Where can I rent a Mini Cooper S manual transmission in the Bay Area, CA?

I’ve been wanting to take a Mini Cooper S manual transmission for a spin. The problem is that I don’t have one. So, I though the next best idea was to rent one.

Where in the Bay Area, California, can I rent one for a day? If not the Mini, then any other fun sports car will do. But it has to be a stick shift.

And while we’re at it, I might need a race track to spin it on. Where can I rent a race track for a day?

Anyone in the Bay Area wanna me to take you for a spin in your Mini Cooper S (or equivalent)? Bonus points if you have your own race track.

Have you tried City Carshare? They have convertible minis for rent  Not sure if they’re manual or not.

I have a manual Mini Cooper S! But I live nowhere near the SF Bay area. The people here might know a place, however.

I checked out the NAM website, but a previous thread with this question went unanswered. I’ll let you know if I make it to Wisconsin any time  I’ve been to Madison once before.

I think I found what I was looking for at:

www.specialtyrentals.com

They have a manual Mini Cooper S in my area for a pricey $170/day (limit 100miles). Everybody else seems to be renting automatics, including citycarshare (although they have much better prices).

Now I need a cheap race-track.

(the I-280 at dawn?)
Not cheap, but doing one of the driving courses at Laguna Seca is very worthwhile.

Mind you if you are serious about hiring a car to take to a track, the hire cars are usualy electronically speed limited to arround 100mph.

For the fun of it why not hire the Lotus Elise instead?

Can’t really afford a speeding ticket. Rather spend that money on track fees.

On the cards. Not sure when, but I’d love to attend a high performance driving school.

Oh, I didn’t know that. Thanks for letting me know. Will confirm with the rental service before renting. Though I’m more interested in tight turns, heel-toe shifting and some cornering fun rather than straight line speed.

That’d be a great car too, but I personally prefer the mini. The Lotus is more expensive to rent as well.

Thanks for your suggestions, everyone.
