But those people weren’t made that way by facebook, nor is facebook their only source of idiocy. I’ve seen my Idiot Aunt encounter the latest piece of political idiocy from her people with disdain… then I’ve seen her, just a few weeks later, repeat it as if it was the kind of thing everybody learns in kindergarten. The piece of idiocy came from the TV in that case. I’ve seen similar pieces of idiocy in magazines, newspapers, whatsapp, and encountered them at the grocery store.
And it often is idiocy: it’s not that people don’t have brains, it’s that using said brains would be tiring. Much easier to let whomever can come up with the most scandalous thing decide for you.
