I didn’t even think I had one in the bedroom until I was madly cleaning today because they’re coming to do a bunch of work tomorrow and unearthed one.
The Container Store has the best ones.
Got my kitchen one–a nice brushed steel step-on things–from Bed Bath and Beyond.
TARJAY also known as TARGET
Garbage (potentially stinky stuff) goes in the kitchen trash can. I have small trash cans in the bedroom, bathroom, living room, and next to the computer in the dining room. I’d have one next to the washer and dryer, but they’re in a mudroom right next to where the kitchen trash is. This way, when I’ve got something to throw out (Kleenex, Q-Tips, cash receipt randomly stuck in a pocket, bits of yarn from my needlepoint, packaging, tags from new clothes, whatever), there’s a trash can right there. Because there’s nothing yucky in any of these, and since it would take months to fill up one of these containers, if I miss a week, no biggie – but it’s also no biggie to empty one upstairs trash can into the other, swing by the living room and dining room trash cans to empty them, and put it all in the kitchen trash before tying it up on Sunday night.
My cat developed a habit of knocking over the living room wastebasket and playing with the trash. I bought a ceramic flowerpot at Lowe’s, almost as wide as it is high. Freckles is pretty strong, but he can’t knock it over. He can still reach into it, but he doesn’t. The fun, I guess, was in knocking it over.
Trivia tangent: Did you know there’s a band called Trashcan Sinatras?
All trash goes into the kitchen or bathroom. I guess I just grew up that way.
My coworker says that her parents have one because her parents have bad sinus problems and constantly have dirty tissues.
