OK, my insight - been watching porn since I was mostly 18 - worked in the restaurant industry for 3 years because the hours worked with my college classes so I hung out after hours with my food service friends. One of the few things to do at 0200 in the morning in Rochester NY if you didn’t want to banzai run to Buffalo and close the bars there was either hang out in a restaurant kitchen or hit the x rated movie theaters as a group and make fun of the films.
In the late 70s and into the 80s you got stuff like Deep Throat, Debbie Does Dallas and compilation clips of 8 mm porn-for-bachelor-parties all of which are pretty tame unless you get into some of the fetish stuff. A rough story line, and generally vanilaa sex [vaginal with some anal, oral to both genders, tit fucking, occasionally threesomes of varying assortments] and a cheesy sound track. My favorite movie was Hyapatia Lee’s Ribald Tales of Canterbury. 90s started getting more ‘exotic’ less story line driven and more just fucking. 2000s really left the story line, I think it was because stuff started being passed around on the internet at the time.
Currently, if you want plot and vanilla you pretty much need to go for vintage. Now the general plot is woman shows up somewhere, for sake of an argument a pool hall. If the youth are looking at the current crop of porn as a guide on how to have sex, the women are going to be really sadly unfulfilled unless she really strongly emphasizes how she wants to be screwed for her pleasure because the current training is to demean and act like a 3 pump chump would to a whore he is not interested in gratifying.
Why do I know all this? Because I have no shame in watching porn with my husband, or going to a strip club with my husband, sexuality simply is. We pretty much stopped bothering to watch porn other than vintage [available at you porn ] because it really isn’t a sexy turn on or offer any interesting suggestions as neither of us is into degradation. My point is that the original calculations and conversation is pretty much irrelevant. Zillions of little videos exist that are no more than 5-10 minutes long. Obviously, millions of girls - and guys - are willing to be filmed having sex. Ads for “models” abound in all sorts of versions all over the country. The better question is who ISN’T making porn? (besides my wife, that is).

I have never seen a man slap a woman’s face in porn. I’m not denying that it happens but I have never seen it in 15 odd years of porn. Maybe it happens more in bondage porn, which I have not seen much of, but you’re describing it like it’s a common thing in mainstream porn.
I have to disagree. Porn like you describe does exist; but it hardly represents all porn. There are certainly videos which feature sexual abuse (which isn’t always men on women; there are also videos where women abuse men, women abuse other women, and men abuse other men). But there are just as many videos which feature romance and seduction. (Of course, the romance, the seduction, and the abuse are all simulated.) And pretty much every sexual act can be seen; oral sex performed on both men and women, anal sex, and regular intercourse.
It’s true that plots are often pretty lightweight (and in some cases non-existent). But that’s nothing new. It’s been true as long as porn’s been around. The reality is that pornos are like musicals; people want to see the sex or the song and dance. They only include just enough story to get from one scene to the next.
In Japan they often target hostesses, the women who work in clubs where men pay lots of money to just have a woman sit and drink with him. Usually groups. Barely legal women can make very good money and for some, it’s not an impossible leap into porn.
Other times, they just ask lots and lots of women on the street if they will talk for a couple of minutes. Then they make a pitch. Not a high rate of success, but with the sheer number of people in Tokyo, they can always find some.
Yeah, it’s like politics that way. When it isn’t on tape and from a podium, it’s just called “confidence trick” and “fraud”.

Yes they still make feature length plotted porn movies.
My understanding is that the advent of the internet and ease of posting media of various types has really done a number on the “mainstream” porn industry. The feature movies with a plot and characters are becoming harder to find and less profitable to make.

Sure, in fact there’s been something of a revival in the last decade. Pirates was made in 2005. It was a feature porn film that had a big budget, quality sets and costumes, special effects, and a plot. (It was a good enough movie that they cut out the explicit sex scenes and released it as an R-rated movie alongside the original X-rated version.) And it was a huge hit.
As a result other films have followed their example. There’s now a whole genre of “quality porn”.
Slapping faces with hands is not common, but it is done sometimes. More often you will see slapping of butts (that happens a LOT) and a lot of choking or gagging, and other forceful pushing around. Sometimes I think it’s encouraged by the woman, but occasionally I think it isn’t asked for, and just happens because it’s become standard.
The safest place to find vanilla porn is via webcam stuff.
Porn is back in a bad state of affairs, there is some horrible stuff commonly available now that used to be buried in the dark corners, and it’s not healthy for young people to be brought up watching.
Yeah, porn is supposed to be fantasy and nothing more. It, for sure, should not be viewed as a ‘how to’ guide, but I think it is too often.
As a single person just recently back into dating I have been a little shocked as to how many women are asking for rough sex, spitting, slapping, choking etc. It is a total turn off for me. I guess watching porn is where they are getting this from. Romantic lovemaking and foreplay seems to have gone the way of the dinosaur. I am starting to think porn may be the reason behind this to a large extent.
