Say you pay £25 per a month for Sky (digital, I’m not even sure you can get ordinary sky in the UK anymore) how much, if any, goes to the television channels that actually provide the content- like MTV or the Discovery Channel- I’m guessing very little if not none, but if anyone knows better fill me in.
But then my question becomes, why not just broadcast for free? Because Digital channels such as here that broadcast over [freeview](http://www.radioandtelly.co.uk/freeview.html) get higher viewing figures simply because an extra [5.6 million](http://www.dtg.org.uk/news/news.php?class=&subclass=&id=1440) households have access to it, and surely that should translate into higher advertising fees?
So whats wrong with my reasoning here? Can anyone endarken me with the facts?
