Where do I get a photo scanned?

I have a photo I want digitally scanned. I don’t want to buy a scanner for one picture and I don’t know anyone who has a scanner. What type of business would do that for me?

A place that provides photo services, like Walgreen’s or CVS. I used to get a CD of photos along with my prints from Eckerd back when I used film. You might need the negatives, but I’m not sure.

Yes, CVS, Walgreens, Wal-Mart, Target, etc. have scanners to copy photos and get additional prints made. You can also get a CD at the same time so that you have the file. It can be done while you wait and the cost is pretty nominal.

Kinko’s can also do it, and they have computers available to do digital image manipulation, if you feel the need.

A local library may have facilities to do that. Schools, colleges and universities almost certainly, if you attend one.

If it’s a copyrighted photo, no one will copy it for you. (That includes studio portraits.)

Actually, it’s a passport photo and I got it at Walgreens. I could have had it done while I was there but I didn’t know you could get it done.

You can’t make copies of portraits even if you’re the subject?

The photographer holds the copyright.
