I know he was British and a bit of a one hit wonder but I am surprised no one else has started a thread for the death of Peter Sarstedt of Where Do You Go To (My Lovely)? Fame. Nice song, always sing along when it is on the radio.

I didn’t hear, thanks for the update. He spent his early life in India.
The song was prominent in the Darjeeling Limited. And it sounds like it was made specifically for an Anderson soundtrack, doesn’t it.
Hoping that this post is on the right side of the “threadshitting” line: this is a song which I’ve come to detest, for a reason. That reason being – what we in the UK call “buskers” (don’t know if the word exists in American parlance) – not-particularly-talented-musicians, usually of the solo-guitar-accompanied-singing kind, who perform in public for small change from passers-by; seem in this country to have more often than not, a small repertoire which leans extremely heavily on two songs: Where Do You Go To My Lovely?, and The Streets Of London. Many years of hearing these two offerings rendered poorly, ad nauseam, by these folk; have caused me to fantasise at times about being an all-powerful dictator, and making performance of either song by buskers, a capital offence.
Didn’t he also record a song with the line, “My father… is The Pope, you know!” as a seduction line?
2-Hit wonder, actually - Frozen Orange Juice is, if anything, an even better song, although I love WDYGT,ML. Probably because we don’t have a busker problem…
I knew his name immediately from this,** Take Off Your Clothes Let Me See What It Is That You’re Hiding**. I was surprised that it wasn’t mentioned in the obit I read. It was in heavy rotation on my university radio station. I assumed that was his most famous song.
The title Frozen Orange Juice meant nothing to me but sagely I did a quick check on Wikipedia before questioning the information. Wiki said it was a top ten hit in the UK?
A quick check on YouTube (isn’t it great living in the Internet age?) and I gave it a listen. I honestly had no recognition at all. Sounded a bit sixties ‘poptastic’ to me. Jaunty but disposable.
