Bedtime is pill time for me – generally around 11 or midnight all week long. I was originally on the 21-day pack (I have an excellent memory for things like this), but now my generics come in the 28 only. So I throw it out after I finish the live pills, thus trashing the blanks, and start a new pack the next Thursday night.
Here’s another Q: Has anyone else experienced what I call “precession of the period” while on the pill? When I started, I was right in line with the Sunday start date, and my period started like clockwork on Monday. After a few years, it cycled forward to starting on Tuesday. My doctor gave me the OK to start the new pill cycle on Saturday, so my period would still start on Monday. (The pills are all the same dose, so I just start taking the pill(s) for the end of the third week and then go back to the pills for the first week, to keep the days lined up.) Now I’m up to starting my pills on Thursday and ending on Wednesday. Anyone else?
I’ve been on damn near every bc pill made and distributed in the U.S. (Pre-child, post-child, gyno-problems, etc.) I’m now on Mircette and let me tell you all, it’s a Godsend. No more migranes (I used to get about three eye-poppers a month on the Desogen/Demulen crap.), no cramps whatsoever, very little bleeding and tiny, tiny pills that don’t taste like paint. I keep them in a cedar box on my nightstand and take them everynight before I go to bed. My Ob/Gyn said a few hours difference ingestion time does not affect the effectiveness of the pill and that because I’ve been on them for nearly a year and a half now, I’d have to be off them for at least three to four months before conception. (That’s a good thing; my sleep schedule varies.)
I have heard about not keeping pills in the bathroom, but I keep mine in the bedroom because the last thing I do is turn off the light and ‘‘voila’’ there they are.
Concerning precession of the pill: I’ve always started my period on Wednesdays, regardless of the type of pill I’m on and the Sunday start pill. Who knows?
Most insurance companies are dropping birth control prescriptions like flies. My Ob/Gyn alerted me to femscript which gives you a discount on the prices of the pill. Wal-Mart also honors the femscript plan, so it’s extra, extra cheap to get them there. I get a three-month supply of Mircette for $45 on it; regular cost of a one month supply of Mircette-- $27.
It’s cheaper for me to use it than my insurance.
