Where does one get sheets of one dollar bills?

I often ask for them, and usually they don’t have any more than 25 or so available.

Go to a strip club. They have plenty. (Some, not all)

I received a gift of a sheet of four $1 bills (not $2 bills) maybe 20 years ago. It’s held in a nice posterboard folder that explains in detail all the features and symbols printed on the bills. Kinda cool.

Make sure to tell people that’s why you’re at the strip club. A good laugh will brighten their day.

An old family friend once did that, but he took his stacks of crisp sequential $2 bills (which he’d special-order from the local bank) to a print shop, and they gummed them for him. He always loved the look on the faces of waitresses, merchants, salespeople etc. when he’d pull out what looked like a checkbook and tear off a $2 bill or two.

I prefer to get my currency on rolls.

If you want an uncut sheet of twos, you’ll have to get in line to order them from bureauofengravingandprinting.

If you wanna GLUE your twos in sheets, see the bank.

If the bank doesn’t have enough twos on hand, order them. Won’t cost extra, since they are legal tender.

You can also order Susan B’s, and the George dollar coin.

Since the US Gov’t invested heavily in currency which ended up being unpopular, you’ll find a lot of it overseas. Commissaries and Exchanges on US military bases take US money, and their tills are full of twos, Susan B’s, and probably George dollar coins.

It is one of the best deals going for the Treasury dept: charging more money for money that likely won’t be spent.

There’s even a word for it: Seigniorage - Wikipedia

But they are doing their best to keep sales low.

I decided strips of dollar bills might make a good gift for some nieces & nephews. But when you try to place an order you get the message “For orders received on or after November 16, 2011, please allow 4 weeks for delivery.” - a clever holiday marketing scheme.

I decided to try the customer service number, to see if it really is impossible to get anything in 2 weeks. If you call that number, you get a message telling you to press ‘*’. When you do that, you are told you’ll soon receive a text message with more info.

The text message says:

I’m wondering if this means that unless I reply STOP I’ve signed up for a $9.99/mo service.

Really fine customer service.

The post office must know this tactic as well. Issuing so many stamps every year keeps collectors buying the new issues without ever using the stamps for postage.

I seem to remember reading on these boards that Steve Jobs used to do this. He’d keep a pad of perforated $2 bills and tear them out to use as tips and such.

Pssst.

At the coin shop I work at? About 8-20 a year. Framed nice (you do that part yourself) they look sort of cool.

D’oh. :smack: Thanks.

I had an uncle that used to get $1 bills that way from the bank ( I don’t know if it was something the bank just did or if he had to get them special). One summer (1979 or 1980) I took care of his animals for 2 weeks while they were on vacation. He paid me $50.00 all in brand new, sequencial serial number one dollar bills bound in a pad. Being 16 years old, I didn’t even think of keeping them intact and saving them.
