Where does your last name rank?

Ellis: 114
Real Name: 52600s

Well Tai Chi of Tricorder isn’t a very common name.

Mine’s #4555, a little higher than I would have guessed. Even more surprisingly, though, my mom’s maiden name (which I won’t reveal since I use it as my “security question answer” in case I forget a password) is in the #25,000 range – I wasn’t sure it would even appear on the list!

Chisholm is ranked #2773.

First name in the 200’s. Last name in the 2,300’s.

My last name is not on the list at all. This fits with what we know about my name. My wife (who has been deep in genealogical research for over a decade) figures there are maybe 40 or people with my last name in the US. And 25 or so of those are me, my brothers and sisters, and our wives, ex-wives, and children.

However, my first name (Richard) is number 7, and my middle name (James) is number 1.

So I have a very uncommon last name, combined with two very common given names.

My last name in #31.

My first name is in the low 100s, which REALLY surprises me. I hardly EVER meet anyone with my name. Sometimes people mention they know someone w/ my name, but I never meet them myself. Interesting.

I have however met 2 people with my first and last name. One was a lady who worked in the town where I went to college. The other is employed at my current workplace. She gets my email sometimes as our addresses are almost the same. I guess there are several of us out there.

Parrish is 600.

The evil, alternate spelling that I always seem to be confused with around these parts (Parish) is 2127. Now I wonder why my name is always confused.

First name is 77.

Hm, closest to mine is 9544. I thought it would be much lower.

JOhn.

6th for my last name. Thats not to supprising, but my first name in the top 1000 is. I have never met anyone with it as a last name, and few with it as a first. Out of boredom I checked the customer database at work, and out of 250,000 names it came up 62 times.

Mine didn’t appear at all.

I figured there were at least a couple dozen “Ambekars” wandering America’s streets.

First name = Top 275
Middle = top 130
Maiden = top 475
married = almost 45,000

I had it fairly easy for the first 21 years … :frowning:

FWIW, my mom’s maiden name isn’t on the list (an alternate spelling is top 200) - neither is her sister’s married last name.

My first name (craig) is 90 but I don’t have a last name and that doesn’t appear to be on the list.

Honestly how long did it take you to figure that out?
I could look at that list for hours and probably pass over my name many times. All while getting a massive headache.

My last name is not on there at all. Hmmm…

My anglcisized last name (sorry about spelling, I’m tired!!) comes in at 23780 on the list.

My surname is not on there either. As far as I know, the only people that have it are related to me, however distantly. But if I take off the “T” on the end it is ranked. Also the name of a mathematician.

Hiya, Craig, I’m Craig too.
My last name is in the high 3500’s - it surprised me, actually; I’d thought it a relatively common surname, and my first relatively uncommon.
Huh. Learn something new every day.

You don’t have a last name? How did that come about, and how do you manage, if you don’t mind my asking?

I too must question the validity of this list. My name is a variation of 76654, but I’m pretty sure that my spelling is at least as common as the one in the list, yet it doesn’t appear there at all.

A fifth cousin did a genealogy of the family, and according to his research there are bout 3000 of us in the U.S.
