Where Have All The Tommys Gone?

Where have all the Tommys gone?
Long time passing.

Where have all the Tommys gone?
Long time ago.

Where have all the Tommys gone?
They call themselves “Thomas” now, the pretentious, affected, arty, assuming, aureate, big, bombastic, chichi, conceited, conspicuous, euphuistic, exaggerated, extravagant, feigned, flamboyant, flashy, flaunting, flowery, gaudy, grandiloquent, grandiose, high-flown, high-sounding, highfalutin’, hollow, imposing, inflated, jazzy, la-di-da, lofty, magniloquent, mincing, ornate, ostentatious, overambitious, overblown, pompous, puffed up, put-on, rhetorical, showy, snobbish, specious, splashy, stilted, swank, too-too, tumid, turgid, utopian, vainglorious bastards.

Has anybody here seen my old friend Bobby,
Can you tell me where he’s gone?

He’s gone and called himself “Robert” now, the pretentious, affected, arty, assuming, aureate, big, bombastic, chichi, conceited, conspicuous, euphuistic, exaggerated, extravagant, feigned, flamboyant, flashy, flaunting, flowery, gaudy, grandiloquent, grandiose, high-flown, high-sounding, highfalutin’, hollow, imposing, inflated, jazzy, la-di-da, lofty, magniloquent, mincing, ornate, ostentatious, overambitious, overblown, pompous, puffed up, put-on, rhetorical, showy, snobbish, specious, splashy, stilted, swank, too-too, tumid, turgid, utopian, vainglorious bastard.

What the fuck are you talking about?

Growing up?

I’ll have what he’s having.

Can you teach me to channel Roget, too?

Some of them are still around.

“magniloquent.”

New word. Thanks.

It’s Tommy this and Tommy that and Tommy how’s yer soul.

But it’s thin red line of heroes when the guns begin to roll.

This one has crossed over. :frowning:

Bah, and here I thought you were talking about the chili burgers. (It’s a socal thing, very yummy!)

Bizarre rant.

Here. I personally like In-n-Out burgers better myself, but I’ve never really been into the whole chili burger thing.

At some point back in high school (class of '93) I noticed that I didn’t know anyone named “Bob”. Everyone whose name was Robert went by “Rob” for short. Could “Bob” be going the way of “Dick”?

I think Quadrophenia was really the better album.

No shortage of “Tommy” here. That jackass Hilfinger has it plastered on every inch of everything.

What about general Tommy Franks?

General Tommy. Not Tom. Seems odd.
