Where have LotR Actors turned up since LotR?

It took me a while to work it out but one of the bad guys in Chronicles of Riddick (Vaako) was Karl Urban (Eomer). And it also didn’t click for a while that Van Helsing’s slightly nerdy helper Carl is David Wenham (Faramir)

Anyone else noticed secondary characters (or even primary) turning up in films since the three LotR films?

Dominic Monaghan (Merry) is on Lost. He plays a washed up rock musician/herion junkie named Charlie.

Sure – Sean Astin was in 50 First Dates.

Billy Boyd (Pippin) was in Master and Commander.

… and he directed at least one episode of Angel.

Billy Boyd is doing the voice of one of the bad dolls in the newest Chucky movie.

… and Brad Dourif (Wormtongue) is the voice of Chucky.

Brad Dourif also played Doctor Cochrane in HBO’s series Deadwood.

Frodo was in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Boromir (Sean Bean) was the bad guy in *National Treasure * and Odysseus in Troy.

Karl Urban and Marton Csokas (Celeborn) were also in The Bourne Supremacy

Elijah Wood was in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Viggo Mortensen starred in Hidalgo.

Miranda Otto is in the remake of Flight of the Phoenix.

Karl Urban was also the russian assassin in the bourne supremacy.

Tikster

(who just got the RotK EE!!)

One I’m looking forward to is Viggo Mortensen starring in David Cronenberg’s A History of Violence, a movie currently in post-production. I have not read the graphic novel on which it is based, but I’ve heard good things about it.

Gollum is going to be King Kong.

I’m not kidding.

Cate Blanchett can soon be seen in The Aviator and The Life Aquatic, with Steve Zissou. She was also in Coffee and Cigarettes.

Orlando Bloom was in Troy

Ian Holm was in The Day After Tomorrow and Garden State and will also be in The Aviator.

Dominic Monaghan is on the TV show Lost.

John Rhys-Davies was in The Princess Diaries 2.

Liv Tyler was in Jersey Girl.

I bet Urban got the job with CoR based purely on his expressive nod

What, has everyone already forgotten PotC?

And wasn’t Sean Astin in Jeremiah?

Christopher Lee will be back in the next Star Wars movie, and I see will also be playing Willy Wonka’s father in Tim Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. (Johnny Depp will apparently be Willy Wonka.)

And while it predates LoTR, I thought it was pretty cool that Brad Dourif was a main character in Myst III: Exile
