My knowledge of west 30s Manhanttan has been affirmed, then. When I saw that, I thought it looked like the New Yorker building, but did not recall seeing any building that looked quite like that one.
Yeah, it looks like a picture of the New Yorker Hotel that’s been mirrored left to right and touched-up in Photoshop. It’s not a perfect left-right mirroring — look at the windows along the center line of the top tier — but it’s pretty close.
That would be a pretty cool building if it actually existed.
Too bad skyscrapers aren’t required to have setbacks anymore. They always made for some interesting architectural features. A single big vertical wall is kinda monotonous.
For what it’s worth, I once stayed at the New Yorker Hotel. I was, in fact, going to a SDMB meeting (the one at Chumley’s).
And while it was a really classy place, I have literally never seen a smaller hotel room.
