Let’s be gross for a minute. I’ve got a cold, and there seems to be an endless supply of mucus in my nose. I blow my nose and 10 minutes later there’s a whole glob more. Sometimes it’s even in my mouth and then I have to spit it out (Eew!). Is it moving its way up my throat and ending in my nose and mouth? Or is my nose actually making it that fast? I know it’s my body’s way of trying to get rid of things, but how does it work so quickly?
lots of tissue inside you in your sinuses.
It’s made in your nose/sinuses.
What I’ve always wanted to know, though, is how many calories are expended producing it steadily like you’re talking about. You can find a ton of cites about how the mucus itself has negliable calories, but that’s about it.
