Was wondering whatever happened to George Geschwendt ?
On March 12, 1976 he methodically slayed 5 members and 1 friend of their family in Trevose, Pa.
I lived not far from there.
Looked at the Pennsylvania inmate locator about a month ago and he was there, he’s not now.
Would have thought it would have made news if he died or was released.
Puzzling.
Odds are there’s some kind of glitch, like they transferred prisons and the new one hasn’t updated the record. Databases like that can be unreliable, and I agree it’s unlikely that he was released or died without someone noticing.
In 1978 he was sentenced to six life terms. There were a bunch of appeals for a new trial. These were last seen in the press in 1992 when a court ruled against him. After that, I have no idea.
I suppose you did a Google. I just did. My first hit is a (frustratingly) undated article that says, George, 64, is alive and serving out his life sentence at State Correctional Institution—Mahony, a medium security prison in Schuylkill County.
Using the age given and his birth date (1953) we can guess this article is from 2013.
Note that the linked article has a typo - it should be State Correctional Institution - Mahanoy.
