A friend’s birthday is coming up soon and I thought it might be a nice unexpected sort of thing to get a small collection of handsome Seuss books. Or a similar idea with even wackier zanier children’s books. Maybe nothing leather-bound, but if there was ever a special ‘Collector’s Edition’ sort of arrangement that’s the sort of ticket. eBay Fu isn’t working for me this week; maybe someone here just happens to be the alter ego of a publishing tycoon?
Funny that you should ask. I just finished this last night. Highly recommended.
Brilliant! I’ve got about 5 Dr. Seuss books, and you can never get any of the good ones at used bookstores. It’s on my Amazon wishlist!
Internet’s fine, for occasional shopping
But sometimes a store’s the place to be stopping.
Poke around in the aisles, the crannies and all the nooks.
The buying’s much nicer at the local Waldenbooks.
Forget all the popups and Trojans and spam.
Go browsing, not surfing, for Green Eggs and Ham.
Smile at the clerk when you give him your cash.
Stores are solid, Internet’s trash.
The headache’s beginning,
there’s gum in my hair,
the children are winning,
my nerves are stripped bare.
There’s a crowd crushed in tight,
woven close, warp to weft.
There’s a screamer to right
and a smoker to left.
The store is all shopped out
there’s naught on the shelves,
those who live-shopping tout
must believe in store elves.
Why must I subject me to such a great mess
when I can shop from my 'puter, five minutes or less?
