Where should I live in the UK?

Well if you’re a finance person I might have a position coming - looks like I have serial-pregger on my hands. One of my teammembers is due back from maternity in 3 weeks but yesterday I received a letter stating she’s pregnant again and due early June…so instead of taking her on for just those few months, we’re offloading her on a taskforce and will be looking for a permanent replacement. I know we’ll have to give her a job when she comes back in June 2010 but we’ll worry about that then (apparently we don’t have to give her her job back just a job at this location at a comparable level)

I’m in IT, but my attitude is one of obeying the Golden Rule.

Uh? I’m in Glasgow but the reactions I’ve gotten for “yeah, I’m from Spain, me and my coworkers have been sent here by our employer to do some work in (well known company)” have all been positive… and in our case, you could say we’re stealing jobs!

People think it’s lovely that we’re enjoying Scotland.

Farnborough or Aldershot?

 thought someone might spot it! Fleet, so technically Aldershot, I guess. We moved here by accident, but it’s wonderful. We love it here.

I’m in Farnborough and your description sounds exactly like where I live.

Back to the OP, I’ll second the Derbyshire recommendation. I was in Derby last weekend and looked in a few estate agent windows. An average 3 bed house was about £100,000 cheaper than around here.

Yeovil. Cheap, safe, a few minutes from the best bits of Somerset and Dorset.
