Thanks for filling in the gaps, Ike. I agree with your last statement, BTW.
But it’s early yet. I doubt we’ve heard the last from them.

Is Farakkan still around or is he taking a dirt nap?
“Sharpton” and “reconciliation” in the same sentence just isn’t working for me. Not yet, anyway. But if he handled himself well, as Ike says, I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
On the day of the attack, Jesse Jackson released this announcement:
CALL FOR NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER AND FASTING AFTER TERROR ATTACKS
I doubt that he’s hiding. He certainly has not been as “helpful” as Falwell and Robertson.
I think that the comments by Falwell and Robertson to be in very bad taste, and historically inaccurate.
Let’s take examples straight out of the Bible, shall we? Where do they get this modern idea that once you hold true to the Christian mores and ethical code, life will be peachy keen? The savior dies nailed to a cross. People shoving spears into him. Peter died the same way, except that he insisted upon being hung upside down, because he did not believe that he had the right to die the same way as his lord. Paul was incarcerated, and all sorts of nasty things happened throughout his life. The Bible says that the road of a Christian will NOT be easy. You could be martyred for your faith. And tortured to renounce it.
Does anyone “get” my point, or are my ramblings too obtuse?
O
Old Louie is still around. After a near death experience during prostate cancer, he rebounded and has changed outlooks. He’s apologised for quite a few of his more youthful remarks.
Sounds like both Jackson and Sharpton have said the right things this past week.
Jackson’s ministry hasn’t been built around defending traditional sexual mores and attacking those who choose different lifestyles. While his extramarital affair was wrong, I can’t see how it shows him to be a hypocrite, or invalidates what he’s previously done.
And those that have a low opinion of his overall track record are welcome to start a GD thread to explain why. I like his values far better than those of Trent Lott or Tom DeLay, thanks.
Jesse is on CNN.
He’s volunteered to be the intermedary between US and Taliban, clergyman to clergyman
I heard him on Hardball earlier tonight. Oy vey.
Chris Matthews asked him if he was going to go to Afghanistan. Jackson pretty much said no, he isn’t actually going to go there. Wise move on his part, I’d say.
In a cage match? Now I’d watch that!
