So I ended up buying a floor model from Best Buy, 8gigs of RAM, 1.5HD and Windows 8. The big problem is because it was turned off, Best Buy didn’t get rid of their admin password, so now I can’t do a damn thing with it. Looks like I’ll be going back today to get them to take it off. I wonder if they will try and charge me for it too!
There a trick for that, take out the battery for 5 minutes, then stick it back in.
I always “build” the machine I want at Dell and make a note of their price. Then I go to the local big box stores (Best Buy, Micro Center) and see if they can beat the price for the same specs. If they do (usually on a sale), I buy from them. If not, I go back to my computer and order from Dell. It’s worked out both ways, about half and half, over the years.
I have to recommend QVC. They have Dell, HP and other brands. Their prices are pretty great and the shipping on computers is usually free. You can also break up the total into several payments. They are into their holiday return policy now, so if you buy and don’t love it, you have until January 14, 2014 to send it back, free of charge.
This Does NOTHING to a windows admin password.
Never has…never will.
but what do I know…I just build and fix computers for a living…
Best buy.
