Where to find Lowenbrau beer?

I used to like Augsburger, as well, when I was in college in Wisconsin in the 1980s. Doing a little googling, that poor brand has changed hands more times than a utility infielder. In the 1980s, it was brewed by Huber Brewing (who had bought it from Potosi Brewing, who had bought it from Monarch Brewing). Huber sold it to Strohs (which is also now gone), and then Pabst apparently owned it, before selling (or licensing) it to Stevens Point Brewery. It looks like Point brewed a version of Augsburger for a few years, but they don’t currently list it on their web site.

A little Googling showed the Swiss Lowenbrau was actually Lowenbrau Zurich. It didn’t appear to be related to German Lowenbrau. The brewery is closed and is now shops or some other waste of space.

Regarding American macro-brews overseas - we were in Ireland in 2002 and stopped by a Bluegrass festival in Northern Ireland. There was only one American band there. The European bands were from all over and were great. Who’d a thought? Anyway, most everyone was drinking bottled Coors Light when there was Guinness on tap for near, if not the same, price. I think we may been the only Americans there, so it wasn’t that. Maybe they were trying to get their Appalachian groove on.

I agree. For what it is it’s below mediocre and way overpriced.

You need to drink more. I have over 1000 ratings on ratebeer.com and I assure you, there are much, much worse beers than Bud.

By their own admission Point had changed the formula. It wasn’t the same as what the previous brewers were making. It really pissed me off.

Shamefully, Budweiser has become the most popular brew in Canada. At least it’s not Bud Light, but what other nation, let alone one that used to consider itself a nation of beer drinkers, would accept this?

Weirdly, I haven’t thought of Lowenbrau or Michelob in a long time either, but yesterday (May 2018) saw them stacked side-by-side in Quebec. I didn’t buy either.
